Protected by UNESCO, the 2000 year Old City brings thousands of Croatians and Italians to Porec every summer. It is literary packed during summer time. It is perhaps the most touristy town in Croatia with more than 30 travel agencies. On the harbors are luxurious boats where Croatia's richest people tend to come.

From the bus station head south down the hill on Karla Hugesa, then turn east up Istarskog razvoda which meets Zagrebacka. This is the major tourist strip that heads south turning into the old town of Decumanus.

Very expensive in Porec. Hotels are not a good choice for the budget travelers, leaving only private rooms and camping. In Croatia, you have to pay Tourist Tax 15KN for each accommodation you stay. The figures below do not contain the tax.

The prices are very low. Most of the food is Italian/Seafood.
r Restaurant Sofora: Obala M Tita 13, 12.00-22.00. Croatian 20-40KN. Fantastic tourist special, value meals, such as soup, fried calamari, salad or pancakes for just 39KN. Situated right on the sea making it very popular. Mainly has Croatian style food like grah salata (bean and onion soup).

r Bijeli Son Pizzeria: Trg Marafor, 10.00-21.00. Snack/Italian, 5-30KN. Italian. Huge slices of pizza (10KN), hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. A good option if you want to continue walking around town. Very popular, set right on the tourist strip.

Sight

S1 The Great Temple and Temple of Neptune: Trg Marafor 15KN, M-Sa 10.00-17.00.
Built in the 1st Century by the Romans who settled in Porec, this is the biggest Roman Sanctuary in Istria.
Access: From the bus station head south down the hill on Karla Hugesa, which becomes Obala marsala Tita along the water. Keep walking south until you get to Hotel Riveria, then turn east on Komicica which leads to Trg Marafor.
S2 The Basilica of Euphrasius: Decumanus
This is Porec's most famous monument. Built in the 6th century it was named after Bishop Euphrasius and built in Byzantine style. The mosaics inside are considered the best preserved in the world, and all show female saints. It is now a UNESCO heritage monument. open daily 7.00-12.00 15.00-20.00.
Access: From the bus station head south down the hill on Karla Hugesa, which becomes Obala marsala Tita along the water. Keep walking south until you get to Hotel Riveria, then turn east on Komicica which leads to Trg Marafor. Then turn east up Decumanus. It is 100 metres on your left.)
S3 Museum of Euphrasius: Decumanus 9. Founded in 1884, the oldest museum in Istria. It contains over 2000 exhibits in its antique, medieval, cultural and prehistoric collection. It also has a popular collection related to the National War of Liberation in Porestina. 9.00-22.00.

S4 Blue Lagoon (Plava Laguna) & Green Lagoon (Zelena Laguna): The two beaches, next each other, have no waves but crystal clear blue water, and a number or cozy coves and nudist beaches on the way.
Access: From the bus station head south down the hill on Karla Hugesa, which becomes Obala marsala Tita along the water. Head West along the water (passing the marina)for 30min along the coast.
